Hein grew up in Põlva, a small town in Estonia's south-east, and came through at Nõmme United in Tallinn, where his size and shot-stopping marked him out early. Arsenal moved in 2018, signing the sixteen-year-old for their academy. The senior caps came almost immediately afterwards — an Estonia debut at eighteen, the national team's number one before most keepers his age had played a league game, and Estonian Footballer of the Year by 2022.
