A team in full flow

The 2001/02 Arsenal were a side brimming with attacking talent and steel. Thierry Henry led the line, Robert Pires supplied the artistry until injury, and Patrick Vieira drove the team from midfield, with Sol Campbell and Ashley Cole anchoring a renewed defence. Arsenal scored in every league game that season and won their final run of matches to overhaul the chasing pack. It was football of pace and conviction, a team that attacked relentlessly and defended with discipline, carrying Wenger's principles to a second championship in five seasons.

Wembley first, then enemy territory

Arsenal lifted the FA Cup first, beating Chelsea 2-0 with goals from Ray Parlour and Freddie Ljungberg. Days later they travelled to Old Trafford and won 1-0 through Sylvain Wiltord, sealing the league title on the home turf of Manchester United. To clinch a championship in such a place gave the achievement an extra edge, and completed the second Double of Wenger's reign. The combination of cup and league, and the manner of the title's confirmation, made 2001/02 one of the most satisfying campaigns in the club's modern history.
